Little mermaid cake

Hey everyone,

Every cake makes you learn a little more about yourself, and this one is no exception.

2D Ariel on a cake, no issue right...

Wrong... Everything goes great until you start shaking from not eating food...

If I didn't share, I will now, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in November and it's normally not an issue as long as I eat right...

On this beautiful cake, I decided to work on it nonstop, no lunch and that means shaky hands... (Side note: NEVER AGAIN!!!)

Everything with Ariel was great except I didn't want to do eyes on her, she was soooo beautiful without them... (My opinion) 

So with shaky hands I added eyes and now I don't like her as much! But they loved her so that's all that matters ☺️

Cake was almond cake with vanilla butter cream and fondant Ariel and white chocolate seashells/seahorse.

She doesn't look that bad, but in retrospect, I'd have done her eyes in fondant... I'm so picky...

Book signing cake... Team collab cake

Hey everyone!!!

So it's been three weeks at Hummingbird! It's been super busy in macaron land, but guess what we've been making cakes too!!!!

We had a cake this past weekend for a very talented author for her book signing. This was a lot of firsts for the team, I never carved cake before, Aya never covered cake in fondant, so we both collaborated to make this the best cake possible!

The cake flavor is five flavor pound cake, vanilla butter cream, vanilla fondant and fondant decorations! 

The final cake looked amazing and I smile hard because I got to teach my coworker how to cover a cake in fondant!!! We are a great team of talent!!!!

First cake at Hummingbird

Well, on week two at Hummingbird Macarons and Desserts...

Loving it this far!!! What's not to love about dessert, right?!!!

Anyhow, I did my first cake at the shop yesterday....

It was a simple birthday cake, vanilla on vanilla... Rustic design with a macaron on top...

Easy right... No!!! I was told I wasn't being creative enough, 😢😢😢😢 next cake I will!!!! I'm a stickler for specifics lol! What can be said!!!
