The Anti Birthday Cake

This was a fun cake for me to make, but nervous because it was for my boss.  Like most of us working people who work on their birthday, or simply don’t celebrate their birthday, my boss is one of those people.  So I got the bright idea to make her a cake based on some of her favorite flavors, with one of her favorite kitchen tools (the paring knife, we all have several).

We call it the anti-birthday cake.
I am glad she liked it because I was nervous.  I enjoyed making it.

"Boob" Cake

Well, my other adult novelty cake I had this past weekend was a “boob” cake for another birthday boy…
Making this cake was extremely fun, and with the “butt” cake I made two months ago, it was easier to make.  I was happy to make it and the birthday boy was EXTREMELY happy!!!!!

Bass Guitar Cake and mini tutorial

Well family, my latest adult novelty cake was a bass guitar cake for my best friend’s husband.  He is a guitar player and we thought it would be a great surprise.

Mother's Day

Hey family,

I know this post is a couple days late, but I injured my thumb and didn't want to type on it until it was not killing me to do so.   (Thumb injury is for another time, ha ha ha)

Mother's Day 2013... I was working the line (yes even after the thumb injury... I'm a boss, nah I'm not really, I just am a diligent worker...) with Chef Ashley and Lauren, our pastry intern.

We rocked out five amazing dessert dishes and two children's dessert dishes for the River House.  And it was amazing to see the magnitude we served on that day.  Had an amazing day...

Kids Cheesecake, (Kid's shortcake is not shown)

Key Lime Creme Brulee
Honey Meringue, & Graham Cracker Cookies

Triple Chocolate
Frozen Dark Chocolate Panna Cotta, White Chocolate Mousse
& Milk Chocolate Cheesecake

Coconut Cream Pie
Key Lime & Coconut Caramel, & Dark Chocolate Sorbet

Upside Down Rhubarb Cake
Butterscotch Rhubarb Sauce, Honey Vanilla Ice Cream,
& Sugar Decorations

Spring Berry Shortcake
Buttermilk Pound cake, Blackberry-Raspberry Coulis,
& Creme Chantilly
If I had it to do over, I wouldn't have injured myself, but the quality of work was still cool.

My boss is an amazing pastry chef, follow her on Instagram, click here or on Pinterest, click here

Don't forget to check me out on Facebook or Twitter...

Until next time... have two cakes I am finishing this week so... CANNOT WAIT TO SHARE

Love you,
Jae

New Cupcakes at Buffalo's

Well, well, well...

Once again, I had an opportunity to make something that I think will fair well.

Our sister restaurant, Buffalo's gets their homemade goodies from our bakeshop (don't think we are crazy, we are literally across the street on the property).  So today, I made two new flavors and I just made an old favorite more festive looking.

Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting looking like sheep

Spring lamb Red Velvet

Irish Cream Espresso Chocolate Cupcakes

Lavender Scented Vanilla Cupcakes

Its Lavender ganache stuffed inside the cupcake with lavender scented butter cream with white chocolate pearls and white chocolate decorations ("B" for Buffalo's)

So those are the new special cupcakes at Buffalo's this weekend.  Other specials are apple pecan tarts, triple blueberry tart, and red velvet whoopee pies.  Buffalo's is a casual fare cafe which is for members, guests and open to the public.  Click here for more information on dining at Buffalo's.

Well, with a nice cake coming up this weekend and work in full swing, I am definitely looking forward to sharing more with you.  Love you, keep baking/cooking...
